Peggy Daugherty attended Oklahoma A&M College from 1941 through 1945 and graduated with a degree in fashion merchandising.

A native of Ramona, Oklahoma, Peggy was involved in many on campus organizations and also served as the first woman editor of The Redskin, the school’s yearbook.  After graduation, Peggy went on to work for Sears department store in Oklahoma City as a manager in ladies apparel for several years.  She married Louis Daugherty in November 1945, a fellow OAMC graduate who was also from her hometown of Ramona, OK.  Together with Lou, they had two children, David and Susan.

In 1965, the Daugherty’s moved from Oklahoma City to Tulsa.  In 1977, Peggy bought Jan Markey Gifts.  While not in fashion merchandising, but still involved with merchandising, Peggy’s business required many of the skills learned in college, along with practical applications from her previous merchandising positions.  She retired in 1999.

A fan of Oklahoma State University athletics, Peggy still keeps up with the Cowboys.  She currently resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
